The Wilmore Elementary project required volunteer resources to achieve LEED EB certification. LEED EB Certification is based from a points system with six general categories. These categories include Sustainable Sites, Water Efficiency, Energy and Atmosphere, Materials and Resources, Indoor Environmental Quality, and Innovation in Operations. After evaluation, the volunteer team concluded that out of the school should target a LEED EB Silver Certification. Silver Certification requires between 50-59 points.

Chris Zerhusen volunteered Retro Commissioning services of the entire facility including mechanical systems, controls, lighting, and other intelligent and adjustable building features. Chris followed the commissioning process to test and verify the existing systems. He then provided a written report with findings and recommendations that he provided to the team. Through Chris providing the commissioning report and following up with adjustments made, he has helped to ensure that the building is operating at an optimum level.
